Later religions and cultures absorb earlier ones. Relics of paganism can be found in Christianity: consider the Easter bunny and Easter egg, Santa Claus, and other syncretist agglomerations.

What remnants of religion can be found in secular society?

In this talk, Meng discusses the anointing of the body with fragrant oils, the concept of the fast and injunctions against meat, and other vestiges of religion that remain in secular society.

Meng then moves on to examine the political economy of agriculture, the science of evolutionary nutrition, and the myth of Cain and Abel.
