At an excellent Indian dinner last week with
crucially,
pocketnovel,
jesserobbins, and Nat Torkington (the Luddite has no LJ) we resolved the following vision of the future:

This version focuses on reputation, because that's been on my mind lately. We agreed that a "credit bureau" of reputation would be inevitable. We also agreed that it had great potential for evil. But then, so do all large centralized systems that maintain lots of information about lots of users. That's the world.
The bubble sizes are totally arbitrary and reflect my personal impression of how much mindshare a thing will have at a given time.
I should do a larger version that automatically pulls stuff out from Google, del.icio.us, Technorati, etc.
