Tellingly, the Gizmodo iPhone review that says "wait" also says:

The hate that I have for AT&T is really hard to put into words.
...
That said, it's really hard to be happy with any cell phone service when the people of Rwanda get better service than we do. (One example among many: I could have walked down the street and bought a SIM card from the same guy we bought Coke-a-cola from).
